A PhD in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague/The Netherlands, Malika Basu has been working as a gender analyst and knowledge management expert in a career spanning over 20 years.

From 2008-2014, Malika led and managed the Solution Exchange for Gender Community - a knowledge management initiative of the United Nations in India. She is also a recipient of the “Outstanding Woman Achiever” Award (2014) for her gender related knowledge Management work from the National Commission for Women, Government of India.

By launching Di4C, Malika’s aim is to carry forward sensitively and promote the use of knowledge management tools and techniques innovatively to highlight and prioritize among other things - gender issues in various sectors and thematic areas. The aim is to facilitate the work of development practitioners, professionals, and organizations.

Ø ILO Lead Consultant for SCOPE-ILO Study on Empowering Women in Public Sector Enterprises, “Adoption of Work from Home (WfH) Model”.

Ø Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (JSCF)/WaterAid India Consultant for scoping study on WASH in schools (Bihar, Chhattisgarh & Uttar Pradesh) and propose recommendations with regard to the following: WASH standards and O&M needs, hygiene curriculum.

Ø ILO Lead Consultant: Training and setting up a “Network of Champions” in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India to act as a taskforce to promote “Women’s Career Advancement especially to Leadership and Management in PSUs” (SCOPE-ILO Collaboration). Champions trained certified by ILO.

Ø ILO Consultant for SCOPE-ILO Study on Women in Leadership and Management in PSUs in India.

Ø National Consultant (India) for the Final Independent Evaluation of the Work in Freedom (ILO-DFID Partnership programme on Fair Recruitment and Decent Work for Women Migrant Workers in South Asia and the Middle East).

Ø Task based Consultant, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to assist in developing the model framework for fee regulation of unaided private schools.

Ø Gender Expert for UN-World Food Programme (WFP) India to Mainstream Gender in WFP operations in India (Until April 2018).

Ø Gender and Social Inclusion Consultant for PLAN India to mainstream gender in its Country Strategic Plan (CSPIV) 2016-2020, by developing a gender strategy paper and a roll out plan.
